Welcome to Manyinga Town Council

Manyinga District, formerly known as Kabompo East Constituency, is located in North Western Province of Zambia and it is one of the eleven (11) districts in the province. The other districts include: Chavuma, Ikelenge, Kabompo, Kasempa, Mufumbwe, Mwinilunga, Solwezi, Kalumbila, Mushindamo and Zambezi Districts. It shares an international boundary with Angola in the North and district boundaries with Mufumbwe district in the East, Kabompo in the West, and Mwinilunga in the North-east.

Geographically, it is approximately located between latitude 13.30 North and 14’45 South and Longitude 31 degrees and 32 degrees east. Manyinga is approximately 913 km from Lusaka and 350 km from the Provincial Head Quarters (Solwezi).

The district is currently divided into one (1) constituency namely Manyinga. The constituency is further divided into 14 administrative wards that include Manyinga, Chongo, Loloma, Kashinakaji, Dihamba, Kachikenge, Luansongwa, Chifuwe North, Sikufele, Chiteve, Kaula, Kasamba, Kawanda and Mukosho.          

Manyinga has two gazetted Chiefs, namely; His Royal Highness Senior Chief Sikufele and His Royal Highness Chief Chiyengele. The district comprises the Luvale, Mbunda, Chokwe, Lunda, Luchazi and Nkoya tribes. The people of Manyinga have two traditional cultural ceremonies like; the Lukwakwa of the Mbunda people under Senior Chief Sikufele and Liyoyelo also of the Mbunda people under Chief Chiyengele.

FISH FARMING PROJECT SET TO MAKE WAVES IN MANYINGA TOWN

Manyinga Town Council’s ambitious fish farming project at Litoya farm has garnered attention with recent assessment unveiling a remarkable batch of fish weighing between the average of 180 grams to 250 grams per Fish, translating into 4 fish per kilogram”
The Director of Finance, Leakey Mwiinde, expressed his delight at the progress made, emphasizing the impressive size and weight of the fish.
Mr. Mwiinde announced that the council is poised to kick off sales to the public in the coming month.
As anticipation builds, the Fish Farm project manager, Mr. Lota Kaponda, revealed further details about the council’s plans.
Mr. Kaponda disclosed that the local authority is gearing up to supply the robust fish to the public, with expectations running high for the upcoming sales launch.
The success of this endeavor signifies a significant step forward for Manyinga Town Council in bolstering their presence in the fish farming industry.
